For more than 40 years, when she could not paint, artist Mayumi Oda has copied out the Heart Sutra as a daily practice. In this print she laid a honu (sea turtle) over the sutra, joining that practice with her love of her home in Hawaii. We worked from her original artwork, so if you look closely you can still see drops of ink from her brush.
